Imagine you were required to take a public speaking course in college. Does the thought alone terrify you? If so, you are not alone. The interesting thing is that public speaking is a learned behavior and the fear reaction is easily overcome through simple skills and practice, especially at an early age.
This week I traveled to the Gulf region to meet with the leadership of the University of Bahrain’s English Language Center. The University, largest in the kingdom with 28,000 students, requires that every one of its freshmen take an intensive course in English language study as part of the standard curriculum. University leaders strongly believe that English skills form the foundation of career success in their region and around the world.
